    WORK HISTORY: Presently:
    Elected three-term Representative to the Tennessee House of Representatives, 47th District.  Member of House Commerce and Judiciary committees.  Member of Criminal Practice and Utilities and Banking subcommittees.  Current part-time term expires in 2008.

    Part time legal/law instructor Nashville Auction School.  In this capacity I teach both basic and intermediate auction law for all 50 states.

    Farmer- raise horses and fish on 80 acres in Normandy, TN I have been involved in the alternative energy industry for the past three years with most efforts focused on biodiesel.  In this endeavor I helped conceive, secure financing for and construct two biodiesel refineries.   In addition I managed personnel, controlled hazardous materials, inventory and equipment. 

    WORK HISTORY: Past:
    1998-August 2002: President and founder of Advanced Protective Services. APS, Inc. is a private protection firm whose clients include Adelphia Coliseum,   The Tennessee Titans, The Governor’s Club, Exxon Mobil Corporation, Nashville Gas, Williams Express and many others.  APS employed 30+ full time armed guards and in excess of 250 police officers in an off-duty, uniformed capacity.  APS, Inc. also had divisions that specialize in Private Investigations, Executive Protection, electronic surveillance and counter-surveillance, training and security consulting.  Advanced Protective Services, Inc. was recognized by The Tennessean as one of the fifty fastest growing businesses in middle Tennessee from 1998-2001.  I retired from and sold this business in August, 2002.

    1994-1998:    SPECIAL AGENT TENNESSEE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE COMMISSION.  I began this job as a field Agent in Cookeville, TN and resigned to begin my private company after being promoted to Special Agent III over the 22 county district of northern Middle Tennessee.  While employed by the State of Tennessee, I concentrated almost entirely on cultivating informants and investigating liquor and narcotic complaints.  I have extensive experience in writing state search warrants, planning high-risk entries, and leading teams in the execution of these warrants.  I also served for 5 seasons as a team member for the Governor’s Task Force on Marijuana Eradication, and one season as the assistant team leader for the Middle Tennessee team.  In addition to these duties, I supervised all administrative functions of our field office and oversaw the inspections and renewals of more than 1000 state liquor licenses.   

    1993-1994: Full time counter-narcotics liaison with the Tennessee Army National Guard.  I assisted the Rutherford County and Murfreesboro City narcotics teams with intelligence gathering, undercover operations, planning and execution of search warrants, and evidence gathering/cataloging.

    1991-1993:    Full time Police Officer with the City of Baxter, TN.  In this capacity I performed all duties of a sworn police officer to include patrol, criminal/accident investigations, and counter-narcotics detection.  While employed under the umbrella of the Baxter Police Department, I accepted a job as an Agent with the 13th Judicial District Drug Task Force as a K-9 officer and narcotics agent.  I also operated a highway interdiction team on 80 miles of Interstate 40.

    1990-1991:    Reserve Deputy Sheriff,Putnam County Sheriff’s Department.  I assisted full-time Deputies with all aspects of their jobs to include patrol, criminal and accident investigations.

    1987-1995:    Tennessee Army National Guard,Winchester, TN.  After completing 17 total weeks of training, I was assigned as the Battalion Commander’s assistant and driver as well as trained to fire and maintain the M198, 155mm towed Howitzer.

    Graduate, Excelsior College, 2000, BS degree (Liberal Arts) with majors in Criminal Justice Administration and Political Science.
